Asset & Device Tracker

A register of IT equipment, its assigned user and the operational information needed to manage it.

IT needs to know which equipment is assigned to each employee and what happened when it changed hands. A device tracker provides that custody history. It is useful for support and joiner or leaver processes when the purchase list alone cannot explain current assignments.

02

What it manages

Device records can include identifiers, type, custodian, location, warranty reference and lifecycle status. The focus is IT custody and support context, while a general asset register may cover a wider range of business equipment. It is not automatically a remote device-management agent.

03

How it works in a business

IT registers a device and assigns it to an employee. Repairs, reassignment and return update the history. Before an employee leaves, the team checks the assigned equipment and records its return or an exception, keeping custody distinct from the device's technical configuration.

04

What SFn can customise

SFn can configure device categories, issue-and-return steps and warranty reminders. Employee directories or IT tickets may connect to the records. Hardware discovery, remote control and security monitoring are separate integrations that need specific access and scope.
